Seacroft Wheelers 2018 Dinner: Report & Photos

Seacroft Wheelers Cycling Club handed out a string of awards to members at its annual dinner in Leeds (20 January 2018).

Competitive and non-competitive riders were rewarded with cups, shields and medals (see photos below) for a range of feats and activities, including breaking club records, assisting with internal club activities and supporting other members.

The members and their partners also heard from Welcome to Yorkshire’s Commercial Director, Peter Dodd.  In a well-received and appreciated presentation, Peter set out how the tourism agency aimed to bring the Tour de France to the region and how Yorkshire now has a legacy from that success, with its very own annual stage race.

Elaine and Scott Kelly walked away with the biggest haul on the competitive side (hence Elaine’s beaming smile in the photo gallery!), closely followed by Lynn and Nick Hanson – there’s life in the old dog yet, hey Nick?!

Other winners on the night included Antony Brumby (Club Person of the Year), Craig Lyons (most Sunday rides attended), Billy Goddard (Dave Jakeman Exceptional Performance Award) and time-triallist extraordinaire, Pete Nixon (also breaking two 20 year old club records).

Club Chairman Richard Barker said afterwards: “The dinner was a great success.  Everyone seemed to have a good time, and we also heard a great story from an inspiring speaker.  It’s a chance for everyone’s efforts to be recognised and for us all to get together and have a good natter and a few laughs.  Thanks to everyone for attending, and for donations to the raffle, which helps to raise funds for the club.”

More than 50 members and partners attended the event at Lambert’s Yard in Leeds.
