RACING SEASON IS UNDERWAY – NEW AWARD AND KIT SUSBSIDY OFFER

Racing season is underway, and we’re highlighting club awards for road racing, announcing changes to our cyclocross awards, and announcing a new award for mountain bike/XC racing for 2023. We are also running the same kit subsidy that we trialled last year.

NEW AWARD – MTB/XC Champion – Our new award will be presented to members in each category who score the most points in British Cycling MTB and XC events over the course of the year. Points will be given independently to the BC system for each race (1st place 100 points, 2nd place 99 points and so on) and then added together to identify the champions based on most points in their category.

Our Road Race Champion Award will be presented to members cycling in each category who score the most points over the year. Unlike previous years this will not be based on the BC points system but calculated from points awarded to placing (1st place 100 points, 2nd place 99 points and so on), which will accumulate over the year.

Our Cyclocross Champion Award will be presented to members cycling in each category who score the most points over the year. Previously this was focused around the winter series but we are now including events from the summer series. Summer races will be awarded at 50 points for 1st, 49 points for 2nd place and so on), the winter series will retain the old points system (1st place 100 points, 2nd place 99 points and so on). All CX points will be added together at the end of the year to award our champions.

We are collating the data for these awards for 1st claim members and will be publishing interim results as the year progresses.

KIT SUBSIDY

First claim members taking part in four (male) or three (female) BC open or closed circuit road race in 2023 will be refunded 50% of the cost of a Pactimo jersey or skinsuit (Flytesuit) from the clothing range on offer. Racers should wear approved club kit (i.e. current kit up to such time that new kit is received). Members without Seacroft Wheelers kit, pre-new kit arrival, may race in non-affiliated and neutral (i.e. not another club) jersey, if effort to borrow has been explored.
