Sunday Rides – 7 April 2019

Event Details

The increase in group numbers, from three to four earlier this year, has been reviewed; it has been agreed to maintain the new set-up whenever possible, i.e. pending ride leader availability, member demand and other club commitments.

However, this puts more pressure on ride leaders and other organisers in preparation and planning of group rides. If you feel able to help with either leading or assisting on Sunday rides, please contact Vice-Chair Mike Cartwright or a committee member via the ‘contacts’ page of this website.

To recap on the recent change: the new ‘short social’ accommodates both new members and those who may not have been out much in recent months.

It rides at the average pace of the previous slowest group (what was the Social group, led usually by Mike Taylor) – 12-14 mph – over a shorter distance, around 30 miles.  Mike Taylor now leads the Elementary group, averaging 12-14 mph over 40 miles.

The new set-up gives greater flexibility and choice for riders and ride leaders so that everyone gets the most out of their rides; but, as stated above, it inevitably needs more help from members.

The Intermediate and Club groups will stick with their previous remits of 14-16 mph (circa 55 miles) and 16-18 mph (60 miles plus).

NOTE: From this week (7 April), ride-time reverts back to 9am.

Short Social – Bramhope (Golden Acre Park)

Elementary – Harrogate

Intermediate – Hampsthwaite

Club Run – Ripley

Some of these rides will have some hilly sections.
