Sunday Rides – 5 May 2019

Event Details

It may be bank holiday weekend – and the Tour de Yorkshire, of course – but members are still determined to get their miles clocked up.

We recognise that some (many?) may want to take in catching parts of the TdY this weekend, so this is a preliminary plan for this particular date; suggestions and discussions on how and where to view the TdY will probably take place on our Facebook group, or an announcement will probably be made there a couple of days before the weekend in question.

Last year, a group of Wheelers were perched at the top of Old Pool Bank to cheer on the peloton on one stage, while others caught the pros in places like Kippax, Garforth and Leeds on another day.

Short Social – Boston Spa (30 miles; lumpy; average speed 12-14mph)

Elementary – Weston (40 miles; lumpier; average speed 12-14mph)

Intermediate – Fewston (55 miles; ouch! average speed 14-16mph)

Club Run – Haworth/Goose Eye/Barden Moor (65 miles; “Shut Up Legs!”; avg speed 16-18mph)

[NOTE: For the Club Run details, keep an eye on ‘Announcements’ on the Facebook group, as Dave Broadbent will take a group to catch an early part of the Tour de Yorkshire stage.]
