Sunday Rides: York Rally

Event Details

This weekend all groups will head in a north-easterly direction, so the terrain will be mostly flat.

If there is interest at Colton on Sunday morning to spend a short time at the York Rally on The Knavesmire (an annual cycling event held for many years, with various activities, attractions, stalls, etc), then one or more of the groups will aim to head there for the cafe stop, plus a very short time allocation to ‘wander’. If there is no interest in the rally, plenty of options are available (Naburn, Askham Richard, Cycle Heaven, Bike Shed, and further afield for the longer route).

So this is a likely indication of what will happen on Sunday.  In any event, the usual rules apply:

Social Group: Askham Richard; approx. 40 miles miles, 12-14mph average.
Middle Group: Beningborough, via Askham Bryan; 14-16mph average, around 60+ miles. Riders can peel off for the rally if they wish – but need to be self-sufficient from there on.
The ‘long route’ group: approx. 70+ miles, averaging 16-18mph. May include the Rally. A standard café stop may follow if food options there are poor (or visit is brief).

As always, ride leaders will determine the best routes, destinations and distances on the day, according to conditions and riders present.

NOTE: Time-length of each group ride will, of course, be different, and cannot be guaranteed due to road and weather conditions on the day, and the possibility of mechanicals.
