Mike also discovered some early pics of the 'Wunderkind' Steve Barnes. One of the very first members of the club Steve's first ever encounter with cyclo-cross was the North of England Schoolboy Championships held at Silsden which he entered and promply won. Training on a bike with muguards and saddlebags, and on a pre-race diet of Walkers crisps, Steve went on to become one of the country's top 'cross specialists. A member of the National Team on numerous occasions Steve represented Great Britain abroad at the World Championships and other International races and also won the Halfords International and National Trophy Series on the domestic calendar.
